Welcome

Wequedong Lodge of Thunder Bay was established as a non-profit, charitable operation in 1984 to operate a boarding home facility. The purpose of Wequedong Lodge is to provide accommodations and support services to members of Northwestern Ontario First Nation communities accessing health care services in Thunder Bay. In order to further meet the needs of its clients, Wequedong Lodge provides translation, transportation and referral support services. Wequedong Lodge’s hostels are centrally located and easily accessible to hospital, clinics and transportation depots.

The organization is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. Financial and program accountability is provided by staff hired by the Board.

Since its inception, the Lodge has hired qualified and experienced staff to deliver the required services on a twenty-four hour basis. Communication and working relationships have been developed between the Lodge and the Northwestern Ontario First Nation communities, nursing stations, physicians, health authorities and hospitals.

Wequedong Lodge has developed a dependable reputation in providing a safe and secure environment for clients staying at the hostels over the years. It has also gained an adequate understanding of Native health care needs.

Wequedong Lodge’s main goal is to continue to meet the needs of native people in the future.
